The Real Thing and the Oz Versions

Pitman's Parings

The evening kicked off with a good Aussie White:

1995 Lindeman's Hunter River Semillon Bin 8655

Pairs of reds were presented: Each pair was same vintage, same grape, and about the same price. One of each pair was from European "home" of the grape, the other an Australian version.

2002 Nippozzano Riserva chianti Rufina (Frescobaldi)

2002 Sangiovese i (Garry Crittenden)

200 Langhe Nebbiolo (Franco Molino)

2000 Nebbiolo i (Gary Crittenden)

1998 Les Meysonniers Crozes-Hermitage (M. Chapoutoer)

1998 Clare Valley Shiraz (Knappstein)

The consensus was the 4 Oz wines showed well with a clear division of preference between the syrah/shiraz/Hermitage.

Dessert was accompanied by

Signature Vin Doux Natural (Cave de Raasteau)

            100% Black Grenache

Estimated costs of the wines: $90.00
